This file contains the known descendants, to the 6th
generation, of Joshua Cawood, born about 1690, nailmaker of Otley, Yorkshire.
Notes for Gertrude Irene BROOKS
As a young girl rode a tame zebra to school. She used to lead the oxen when
ploughing on their farm. On one occasion she stumbled, fell and was trampled
by the oxen, breaking her shoulder. She remembered during the "boere rebellie"
hearing shots being fired in anger by opposing groups of soldiers near the
farm where they lived (possibly Sandfontein). Baptism records at Corey
